Where are you located?

We are located at Shop 5, 112 Birkdale Road, Birkdale 4159.

Is there parking available?

Plenty of parking is available either in front of the shop or behind.
We are located a 5 minute walk from Birkdale train station.

Do I pick up my cake?

Yes, cakes are to be collected from our shop in Birkdale. Cakes will be boxed up and ready for transportation. We will send you our tips on the best storage and transportation. Please ensure to collect your cake within your selected time frame.

What are your pick up hours?

Our pick up hours are Saturday - Monday, 8am – 2pm and Tuesday to Friday 8am – 4pm.

How should I transport my cake?

Your cake is safest for transport on the floor of the passenger seat of your car. It is best to have the car’s air conditioner running. Do not place cake boxes on the car seat. Do not push on the sides of your cake box make sure you support your cake from underneath the box only.

Do you offer delivery?

We do not currently offer delivery for our cakes.

Do your cakes have nuts in them?

Our carrot cake is the only cake flavour that includes nuts in the ingredients however our
kitchen does handle nut products at other times. Therefore we do claim that any products made in our kitchen may contain traces of nuts. For a full ingredient list or for any concerns around nut allergies, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team directly.

Do you make cookies & cakes that cater to dietary requirements?

Yes we do, if you are after any dietary requirements that are not on our website reach out to our team via our enquiry form and we will do our best to accomodate your requirements. While we take every care when making our dietary specific cakes, there is always a possibility of cross contamination.

How far in advance should I order?

To ensure you are not disappointed, please order your custom cake as early as possible. We recommend placing your order 2–4 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. As we have a limited number of cake orders we can accommodate each week, the sooner you reach out, the better your chances of securing availability.
We are currently taking bookings for wedding and custom celebration cakes about 12-18 months in advance through our online enquiry form.
We will always do our best to accommodate last minute custom bookings, but it’s recommended to allow at least two weeks notice.

Can you copy this design I found?

Inspiration images are welcomed and will be used for inspiration only and there might be slight colouring and design changes due to availability of products. We will always do our best to create a cake that you’re going to love. There must be an element of trust for your cake designer. If we don’t fit your desired aesthetic or we feel we are unable to create the design you’re looking for, we may recommend someone else to help you instead. We only want the best outcome possible for you!

By placing an order with Butter Meets Sugar (‘BMS’), you agree to be subject to the Terms and Conditions as set out in this Terms and Conditions page. Please ensure you read these Terms and Conditions before placing your order with BMS to avoid disappointment.

Terms & Conditions

1. Payment

1.1 You acknowledge that, by placing your order, you are agreeing to pay the purchase
price for the goods ordered. In addition, you agree to pay the delivery fee (if applicable)
for your order that we notify to you when you place your order and any other fees or
charges set out in this Terms and Conditions.
1.2 BMS may change the prices published in-store or on this site at any time without
notice given. Prices of products placed in the basket but not paid for are also subject to
change and you agree to pay the price current at the time of payment.
1.3 A quote will be provided to you, to confirm pricing and other details such as delivery
(if applicable). Once the design, details and price have been agreed upon payment of the
full quoted amount is required at the time of ordering (unless otherwise agreed).
1.4 The accepted method of payment will be by direct deposit. Please contact us to pay
via card or any other form of payment.
1.5 Your order is not secure until payment is received into our account. We will confirm
the order and payment have been received via email.

2. Allergies

2.1 BMS will not be responsible for any allergy-related issues.
2.2 Unless it is specified specifically on your order, all baked goods and ingredients may
contain or come into contact with the following allergens: Dairy/Wheat/Nuts/Soy/Gluten
and other potential allergens.
2.3 If you notify us before ordering, we will aim to limit any cross contamination. We can
never guarantee that cross contamination for an allergy will not happen.
2.3 It is your responsibility to inform consumers of the baked goods of any risks that
may be applicable to them.

3. Local Delivery

3.1 Someone must be home to accept the delivery. If no one is home at the time of
delivery the order will be returned to the store. Additional fees will be required to be paid
if you would like us to attempt another delivery

4. Cake Props

4.1 Cake Decorations (including sugar figurines) may contain foam and wooden sticks to
secure them to the cake. Our multi-tier cakes have a centre dowel for support, travelling
and handling.
4.2 Some figurines and decorations may contain wire or toothpicks which can be
dangerous if consumed and pose a choking hazard.
4.3 Whilst BMS will make every effort to inform you of non-consumable parts of the
cake or dessert, BMS will not be responsible or liable for any harm, loss, injury or claim
relating to, or due to the ingestion of any decorating materials or props.

5. Cake Decorations and Variation from Pictured Items

5.1 Fresh flowers and iced flowers may vary from original image viewed or provided.
Sprinkles and other cake and baked good decorations also may vary. This may be due
to certain items being unavailable, out of stock or out of season from time to time.
5.2 Whilst we try our very best to replicate images, this can only be done within
reasonable limits.
5.3 If you would like florals to be an exact match to your event flowers, please ask your
florist to provide us with the correct flowers. We take no responsibility for the flowers
provided to us.

6. Damaged Cakes or Incorrect Storage

6.1 After your order has been picked up or delivered, we take no responsibility for any
damage that occurs to any part of the cake or baked goods while it is in your care,
including if it is as a result of incorrect storage or transportation. Suitable storage
measures for your cake can be found on the Cake care card provided on pick up.
6.2 Where you have elected for a store-pick up, transportation of the cake or dessert is
carried out at your own discretion, and we will not be responsible for any damage that
occurs to the cake during this process.

7. Image/Design use

7.1 BMS reserves the right to take and use photographs of your cakes and/or desserts
before, during and after the final display.
7.2 These images may be used for marketing, advertising, training and development and
other promotional and social media purposes without any form of compensation to you.
7.3 Please note that we do not replicate other artist’s work exactly. We will use photos
and images as inspiration only. No two cakes will ever be identical.

8. Quote, Cancellation and Refund Policy

8.1 Quotes from BMS are valid for 7 days from the day of issue
8.2 No order is considered confirmed and no work on the creation of your cake will
commence until a full payment is paid and received.
8.3 Once paid the quoted price is not subject to change unless changes are made to the
order.

9. Cancellations

9.1 Online Cakes: For cake orders 48 hours notice of cancellation is required and you
will be refunded 50% of the full payment amount. For cancellations made within 48
hours no refund will be given.
9.2 Custom Cakes: For custom cake orders 10 days notice is required and you will be
refunded 50% of your full payment amount. For cancellations made within 10 days no
refund will be given.
9.3 If ordering a custom topper there will be no refund once order in placed.

10. Amending an order

10.1 We ask that all changes to your order are requested via email as early as possible if
you would like adherence to the amended design. Props, figurines and custom
decorations need to be ordered and we will not be held responsible if we are unable to
accommodate due to late notice. The standard cancellation policy will apply.
10.2 Any change to the original quote is subject to a quote review and viability of the
changes requested. Additional admin fees may occur.
10.3 In the event that an agreement cannot be reached as to the changes to your quote,
the cancellation procedure as set out in these Terms and Conditions will apply

11. Force Majeure/Circumstance beyond our control

11.1 Certain events, beyond the control of the BMS, may inhibit BMS from fulfilling their
duties and obligations under the Terms and Conditions.
11.2 Full written notice will be provided within a reasonable timeframe after the Force
Majeure event.
11.3 In the event of failure to perform this Agreement due to any force majeure, neither
party shall be liable for such failure, and this Agreement shall be terminated automatically.
